Actor Nayanthara astonished her fans on Thursday by making an appearance at the launch event of her upcoming film, Mookuthi Amman 2, in Chennai. Renowned for her absence from film events and promotional activities, she notably did not participate in the promotions for her Bollywood debut, Jawan, alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Consequently, her presence at this event came as a surprise to many.

On Thursday, images and videos of Nayanthara at the launch event of Mookuthi Amman 2 circulated widely on social media. The actress, adorned in a red and gold saree, participated in the pooja ceremony and also filmed her initial scene for the movie.

Various videos depict her taking photographs alongside Dhivyadharshini ‘DD’ Neelakandan, Khushbu Sundar, Meena, and Regena Cassandra. When Khushbu shared a selfie of the group on Instagram with the caption, “And we roll,” Regena responded with, “Amman 1 2 3 and weeee…Setting out on a beautiful journey.”

Nayanthara fasts to play Amman

The upcoming film serves as a sequel to Nayanthara's successful 2020 release, Mookuthi Amman. In this instalment, Sundar C assumes the role of director, succeeding RJ Balaji. Nayanthara reprises her role as the titular Goddess. During the film's launch, producer Ishar Ganesh disclosed that the actress has been observing a fast in preparation for her character.

He stated, "Director Sundar C developed the script for Mookuthi Amman 2 in just 30 days. I have never encountered a script quite like this before. Nayanthara has been fasting for a month to embody Amman. The film's budget is projected to exceed ₹100 crore, promising to be extraordinary." The production is a collaboration between Ivy Entertainment and Vels Film International.

Nayanthara's upcoming film will feature prominent actors such as Regena, Yogi Babu, Urvashi, Garuda Ram, Ajay Ghosh, and Duniya Vijay in significant roles. The film is set to be released in Hindi under the title Maha Shakti and will present a self-contained narrative. Nayanthara conveyed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Portraying this character is not merely a performance; it embodies an emotion. Mookuthi Amman 2 possesses a power that extends beyond the realm of cinema, and under Sundar sir’s direction, we aim to deliver a story that resonates with every viewer. I am excited to be part of this remarkable journey.”

Sundar expressed his ambition to create a film that surpasses regional limitations, asserting, “I am committed to producing films that entertain, engage, and leave a lasting impression.
