Aay is the latest super hit in Telugu cinema and despite being released alongside biggie s Double Ismart and Mr. Bachchan, it ended as a hit. Nayan Sarika played the female lead and she speaks to us about bagging the film, her role, her response to Aay., and meeting the likes of Allu Arjun and Jr NTR. Here is the transcript.

How do you feel about Aay's crazy success?

I am over the moon for the film's success. The love that is being poured into our film is on another level and I could not have asked for a better start to my Tollywood career. The messages, mentions, and the way the crowds have welcomed us are so heartwarming.

About getting such a wonderful offer?

I am so lucky to have received this opportunity at such an early age in my career. Geetha Arts is a prestigious banner and getting to act in a film owned by the likes of Allu Aravind is a dream come true moment for me. I thank Anji Garu for giving me such a nice role in my first film and bringing the next out of me.

How did you bag this offer?

Right from my childhood, I was good at stage activities and was trained to become an actress. Like any other production house, the makers came across my pictures and selected me for the film. When they met me with the story of Aay, I felt over the moon and did not think once to sign the as film as the banner was huge.

What kind of prep did you undergo for the debut film?

The moment I got the basic graph of my character, I started working on it. Firstly, I worked on the language and hired tutors as well. Then, both I and Nithin underwent a few workshops for the film and I was assigned a special staff who would coach me in Telugu right through the making of the film.

Can you share any memorable moments during the making of the film?

I still remember I signed the film when I was pursuing my graduation. So, I clearly remember taking my books to the sets of the film and preparing for my exams. Not many know that I took a few days of leave from the shoot and appeared for my final exams. So, in a way, Aay will be one of the most memorable films in my career.

About your interaction with Allu Arjun and Jr NTR

Oh, I cannot forget the days when I met both the stars. After watching the film, Jr NTR told me that I acted like it was my fourth or fifth film and that I was so much with ease in front of the camera. Allu Arjun told that he was shocked to know that I was not from the South. The way I played a village girl with such realistic emotions impressed him the most. The comments from such big stars gave me sleepless nights. Imagine getting praise from the biggest stars in Telugu cinema.

Future Projects

Now that Aay is a huge success, I have started getting offers in Telugu. I am busy with the post-release promotions and once I am done with it, I will sit and carefully go through my offers and sign films with utmost attention. The Telugu audience has given me a warm welcome and I want to make full use of that opportunity which is rare in Telugu cinema.
