Nargis Fakhri Calls Bollywood Dance 'Alien' and Challenging
2 months ago | 5 Views
Nargis Fakhri burst onto the Hindi film scene with Rockstar back in 2011 and has since become a well-known figure in the industry. Over the years, she’s dabbled in a bunch of different genres, appearing in films like Madras Cafe, Azhar, Housefull 3, and Dishoom, among others. However, she’s also been the go-to gal for dance numbers quite a few times. Despite her success in this area, Nargis recently opened up about how challenging she finds it. When discussing Bollywood dance, she mentioned that the “heaving, thrusting, butt-moving” moves are pretty tough for her.
Nargis Fakhri Opens Up About Her Challenges with Bollywood Dance
Nargis Fakhri, known for her dance performances in films, shares her experience of how they hand out dance routines just forty minutes before filming. She emphasizes that it takes a lot of skill to pull off the lip-syncing while learning the moves on the spot, which is something that requires a lot of practice.
Nargis mentioned, "The whole heaving, thrusting, and butt-shaking thing is really challenging. When they throw the choreography at you only forty minutes before you’re supposed to shoot, and you need to learn the steps and lip-sync at the same time, you really need to be an experienced dancer, which I’m not. It’s tough for me to get my mind and body to sync up since I’ve mostly learned Western dance styles. Bollywood dancing is a whole different ball game."
She also mentioned, "Bollywood dancing feels totally foreign to me, just like Hindi does. I'm really having fun picking it up, though. At first, all the hip movements and chest thrusts were a bit tricky for me. But I got the hang of it after some time. There are so many people doing all sorts of things on set. Honestly, everything in Mumbai is so culturally unique compared to other places.”
Nargis Fakhri is currently on set for Housefull 5, and there's been plenty of behind-the-scenes fun to enjoy. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the movie features a star-studded cast including Sonam Bajwa, Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff, and Dino Morea. It's set to hit theaters later this year.
