Actor Nani, who will be next seen in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram next, is currently touring multiple cities to promote his film. In one of the promotional interviews, Nani opened up about the failure of his previous film Ante Sundaraniki. Both Saripodhaa Sanivaaram and Ante Sundaraniki are directed by Vivek Athreya.

Nani on Ante Sundaraniki's failure

Ante Sundaraniki is a romantic comedy film which released in 2022. The film starred Nazriya and Nani in the lead roles and directed by Vivek Athreya. The film, despite pleasing a section of audience, it did not garner much attention and box office collection.

Nani, who is currently promotion Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, addressed the reasons of Ante Sundaraniki's failure. In an interview with Galatta, the actor said, “I think the first most important reason why it did not work is me. I have also said this to Vivek. The movie lover in me got excited with Ante's story but I had forgotten the kind of journey I had as an actor, where I am and the image or the burden I carry. The movie lover in me loved the idea and jumped on it immediately. But what I understood while I was watching on the release date, that everyone who watched in packed theatres were getting restless to see the hero and heroine. They were not seeing the characters but became a star film.”

Nani continued, “For a story like that, and when something is expected out of it, and that Nani will come and make us laugh because I am touching comedy after long time. Any film with little fun of mine have become blockbuster. A lot of people anticipated that but here there was more drama, emotions and all. The comedy took a backseat. It was well-made film, but I was a wrong choice. It need not need a star and you will appreciate the film for what it is.” Having said that, Nani also said he is proud to have done Ante Sundaraniki and that it has found a place in his filmography.

On Saripodhaa Sanivaaram

Scheduled to release on August 29, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram stars Nani, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and SJ Suryah in important roles. The film is directed by Vivek Athreya in his second collaboration with Nani after Ante Sundaraniki.

The film revolves around a man who is calm and composed for most parts of the week. However, it is Saturday when he unleashes the anger inside him.
