Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, who are gearing up for their upcoming film Thandel directed by Chandoo Mondeti, have dealt with their fair share of online trolls over the years. In a chat with Galatta Plus, they shared how they've managed to handle the negativity that comes their way.

Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi talk about dealing with online trolls

Chaitanya mentioned that over the years, he’s learned to ignore trolling and focus on clarifying things, as responding only adds to the chaos. He reflected, “In the beginning, it did get to me. But why? Everyone's just living their lives; why do they feel the need to intrude? Eventually, I decided to tune it out. I figured there was no point in responding because it just spirals into more confusion. I tried to put an end to it, but I realized there’s no real end. People find it entertaining.”

Pallavi shared that she and Chaitanya discussed this while working on Thandel, especially when she faced backlash for an old comment about Kashmir. She recalled, “We had a chat during the filming of Thandel. I was really bothered a few days before Amaran when the issue resurfaced, even though it had faded away years ago. I couldn’t believe it was happening again; I thought it was over. Chaitanya told me that this isn’t just a natural occurrence; someone is behind it, and I shouldn’t engage. Later, I saw he was right when the audience showed up at the theaters.”

About Thandel

Chaitanya and Chandoo are teaming up for their third movie, following Premam and Savyasachi. This is also Chaitanya's second project with Pallavi after Love Story. The film, Thandel, tells the real-life story of fishermen from Srikakulam who accidentally drifted into Pakistani waters. You can catch it in theaters starting February 7.
