The pre-release event for Thandel, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, took place in Hyderabad on Sunday as a private gathering. During the event, Chaitanya disclosed that his wife, actress Sobhita Dhulipala, was upset about the use of her nickname 'bujji thalli' in one of the film's songs.

Naga Chaitanya on Bujji Thalli

When the host, Suma, inquired of Chaitanya whether there was a particular song or dialogue from the film he wished to dedicate to his wife, he responded, “I would dedicate the song 'Bujji Thalli' to Sobhita, as I affectionately refer to her as bujji thalli at home. I had mentioned this to Chandoo prior to the film's production. She felt a sense of disappointment upon the song's release, believing it to be something special just for her, and I included it in the film.”

Chandoo concurred that Sobhita was indeed upset, stating, “I was genuinely taken aback. During one of their wedding celebrations, she revealed to me that her nickname was bujji thalli. She mentioned that she had accepted its use in the film, but now that a song has been created, she felt differently.” For those unfamiliar, Chaitanya’s character, Raju, refers to Pallavi’s character, Satya, as 'bujji thalli' in the film, which loosely translates to 'loved one.' The film features a song of the same name, composed by Devi Sri Prasad and performed by Javed Ali.

The pre-release event for Thandel

Allu Arjun did not attend the pre-release event for Thandel, despite assurances from the producers, his father Allu Aravind and Bunny Vas, that he would be present even on Sunday evening. The event commenced three hours late, and throughout its duration, the actor was not mentioned until Aravind revealed at the conclusion that Arjun was absent due to 'severe gastritis.' This announcement left fans, who were eagerly watching the live feed for the Pushpa actor, feeling disappointed. Sandeep Reddy Vanga was also in attendance at the event.

Thandel is inspired by a true story involving fishermen from Srikakulam who inadvertently entered Pakistani waters while fishing. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on February 7.
