Naga Chaitanya is set to portray a fisherman from Srikakulam in his upcoming film, Thandel, directed by Chandoo Mondeti. A segment of the film's shooting took place along the shores of Visakhapatnam, where he honored a commitment made during his initial visit to the local fishermen.

Naga Chaitanya cooks chepala pulusu

In a recent video shared by the production team, a fisherman remarked on Chaitanya's fulfillment of a promise to learn how to prepare chepala pulusu (fish stew) as skillfully as they do. The footage captures Chaitanya marinating freshly caught fish with spices before cooking it in a traditional earthen pot over an open flame. He tastes the stew prior to serving it to the fishermen, humorously stating, “Please don’t mind if it isn’t good; this is my first time cooking it.” The actor also partakes in some rice alongside the pulusu, in accordance with local customs.

Chaitanya has a strong passion for culinary arts and operates a cloud kitchen named Shoyu in Hyderabad, specializing in pan-Asian cuisine.

About Thandel

Regarding Thandel, this film marks the third collaboration between Chaitanya and Chandoo, following their previous works, Premam and Savyasachi. It also represents the second film featuring Sai Pallavi and Chaitanya together, after Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story.

Produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner of Geetha Arts and presented by Allu Aravind, Thandel narrates the true story of fishermen who inadvertently drift into Pakistani waters. Although initially scheduled for release during Sankranthi, the film has been postponed to February 7 and will be available in Tamil and Hindi, in addition to Telugu.

Chaitanya married Sobhita Dhulipala in December of the previous year at Annapurna Studios, following a discreet engagement in August. He was previously wed to Samantha Ruth Prabhu from 2017 to 2021.
