Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in films like Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Jodi No.1, and Welcome, revealed in an interview with Filmymantra Media that his income was less than that of Akshay Kumar's team. When he addressed his salary issues with the producer, the producer refused to increase his pay.

Mushtaq Khan recalls being paid less than Akshay Kumar's staff in Welcome

Mushtaq voiced his concerns about the remuneration he received for his contributions to Welcome. He remarked, "At the outset of our agreement, we are told that the filming will take place over a period of 20 to 25 days, which shapes our expectations for payment. However, after the initial 25 days, they then ask for an extra 10 days, and subsequently another 15 days. I consider this to be unjust. The compensation remains unchanged. When approached on behalf of the director, the producer often takes advantage of this circumstance."

Mushtaq acknowledged that Akshay Kumar's team received a greater financial reward than he did, stating, "Allow me to clarify the circumstances. We had agreed to a payment of ₹1 lakh for our work on the film, irrespective of whether it took 20 days or 25 days to complete. In contrast, the crew is compensated on a daily basis. Just imagine the potential earnings we could have accrued if we were also paid daily."

He mentioned that when he voiced his concerns to the producer about the prolonged shooting schedule, the producer suggested that he should consider himself lucky to be part of such a prominent film and refused to raise his salary. Nonetheless, Mushtaq expressed his happiness regarding the memes created about his character and the significant recognition he garnered from his role in Welcome.

Directed by Anees Bazmee, Welcome is a comedy-drama that showcases a stellar cast, including Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, and Mallika Sherawat. The film was a considerable success and later developed into a franchise, leading to the release of a sequel titled Welcome Back in 2015. The third film, Welcome to the Jungle, is set to debut this year.

Meanwhile, Mushtaq recently appeared in Stree 2, which featured prominent actors such as Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi. This film achieved remarkable success, earning ₹857.15 crore worldwide at the box office.
