He got arrested in the morning over in nearby Thane city. A Mumbai court has put Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir in police custody for five days.
An official mentioned that during this time, the police will probably take Shariful to Saif’s place at the Satguru Sharan building to reenact the crime scene as part of their investigation.

Multiple investigation teams have been set up to look into the crime, according to the police statement, and a case has been filed under sections 311, 312, 331(4), 331(6), and 331(7) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The police also mentioned that the suspect was trying to escape to his hometown when he was caught at Hiranandani Estate in Thane. It turns out that the suspect hails from the Jhalokati district in Bangladesh.

Shariful broke into the actor's apartment in the early morning of January 16, aiming to steal, according to the police. Initial investigations indicate that he made his way up to the seventh and eighth floors of the building where Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, live with their kids and household staff.
"He got into the duct area, climbed up to the 12th floor using a pipe, and accessed the actor's flat through a bathroom window. He then emerged from the bathroom, where the actor's staff noticed him, which led to a series of events that ended in the knife attack," an official had previously stated.

The 54-year-old actor was attacked and stabbed several times, leading to a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital nearby.
Earlier, Saif's sister, Soha Ali Khan, mentioned that he is "doing well" in his recovery. While chatting with the media at an event, she expressed, "We're really glad he's on the mend, and we feel so thankful and blessed that it wasn't more serious. Thanks for all the good wishes."
