"Mrs" Fans Rejoice! Kanwaljit Singh’s Heartfelt Gesture Brings Emotional Closure

Kanwaljit Singh's online approval ratings have experienced significant fluctuations this week, transitioning from being perceived as a 'stern father-in-law' to a 'beloved figure.' The seasoned actor has captured the internet's affection following his role in the successful film "Mrs," where he portrayed a demanding and unyielding father-in-law to Sanya Malhotra's character, Richa. In an apparent effort to counterbalance his on-screen persona, he has released a new video.

A playful reinterpretation

In this latest video, a cheerful Kanwaljit is seen preparing a meal in the kitchen and serving it to a woman, whose identity remains unclear. He refers to her as ‘beta,’ a term he also used for his daughter-in-law in the film.

“Beta, I have prepared this dish using your mother-in-law's recipe,” he informs her while arranging a plate. The woman, dressed in her pyjamas, sits down to eat, while Kanwaljit hovers nearby, seeking validation or compliments, reminiscent of Richa's interactions in "Mrs." However, the young woman merely remarks, “It lacks salt,” echoing the critical comments made by the pretentious male characters in the movie. Kanwaljit’s expression shifts to disappointment as he retreats back to the kitchen.

Fans of the actor expressed their delight at the role reversal depicted in the film. One follower remarked, “I loved this! Role reversal! Now, could you also prepare some chutney?” Another commenter stated, “On behalf of the entire women’s community, now you understand.” Additionally, a fan commended Kangwaljit’s performance, saying, “After such a long time... the great man is back on screen, and just look at that.”

About Mrs

Regarding Mrs, the film features Malhotra in the role of Richa, an aspiring dancer who is married into a patriarchal household where she is relegated to domestic duties, yet ultimately stands up against her oppression.

Directed by Arati Kadav, known for her work on Cargo, and adapted from the acclaimed Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen, the movie is currently available for streaming on ZEE5.

The actor, recognized for her roles in films such as Dangal, Pagglait, and Kathal - A Jackfruit Mystery, mentioned that she is surrounded by great men, including her brother-in-law and friends.
