Morgan Wallen recently ignited controversy by unexpectedly leaving the stage during Saturday Night Live. As footage of the country star's departure circulated widely, fans criticized him for walking off before the credits began to roll. In the midst of the increasing discussion surrounding the incident, a lip reader disclosed that the 31-year-old appeared to be in high spirits prior to his exit and expressed gratitude to the cast members.

Here's what Morgan Wallen said before abruptly walking off SNL stage

Lip reader Nicola Hickling interpreted Wallen's now-famous moment, indicating that he expressed his gratitude by saying, “Thank you all so much” to those on stage. The Last Night singer also mentioned that he had a “wonderful time,” as reported by the New York Post. He further conveyed his appreciation to host Mikey Madison while embracing her.

The Anora star then remarked to Wallen, “Chatting to you was really good,” according to Hickling's observations. As the credits began to roll, Colin Jost humorously reminded someone, “You gotta remember how he is feeling,” as noted by Hickling. After his awkward exit, the Cowgirls singer seemingly bypassed the show's afterparty, opting instead to post a photo of his private plane on Instagram Story.

“Get me to God’s country,” Wallen wrote in the caption. His post elicited a humorous reaction from SNL writer Josh Patten, who later posted a picture of a Krispy Kreme truck in New York City, playfully mimicking Wallen's caption verbatim.

Following the SNL broadcast, social media users quickly took to various platforms to express their disapproval of Wallen's actions. One user on X remarked, “Morgan Wallen is the first musical guest or host on ‘SNL’ that I can remember who simply walked off the stage during the ‘goodnights’ before the credits began to roll.”

Another user commented, “Morgan Wallen is once again demonstrating a complete lack of self-control by storming off the stage before the credits even started. I hope that outburst was worth it, as it seems unlikely he will ever appear on #SNL again,” according to the outlet.
