As per a News18 report, after Monali looked distressed and stopped her performance mid-way, her team intervened and sought medical attention. Monali was then rushed to Dinhata Sub-District Hospital in Cooch Behar, where she's currently undergoing treatment. More details of her health and condition are awaited.
Monali's recent controversy
Earlier this month, Monali released a statement following her abrupt departure from the stage during her concert in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on December 22. The incident occurred after she had performed for approximately 45 minutes.
In videos that circulated widely online, Monali was observed addressing the audience, expressing her disappointment: "I am disheartened that my team and I were so excited to perform here. Let's not discuss the infrastructure and its condition, as that falls under the management's purview. I cannot articulate the extent of their actions regarding the stage, which seem aimed at financial gain."
On Monday, the singer took to her Instagram account to elaborate on the alleged mismanagement and mistreatment experienced by her and her team at the hands of the event organizers. "I had hoped to conclude 2024 and commence the new year 2025 without addressing the distressing incident my team and I encountered in Varanasi. However, after considerable contemplation, I believe it is crucial to disclose these unfortunate realities—not only to raise awareness but also to advocate for reforms in the handling of such issues. Attached is a letter of confession and apology from the founder of the event-organizing company. I hope this letter clarifies any misunderstandings regarding the credibility of the false defamatory claims made against my team and me, as well as the unethical conduct of the organizers," Monali stated.
Additionally, Monali highlighted that her team experienced "severe negligence" concerning basic safety measures, which compelled her to exit the stage during her performance. "It has been profoundly distressing for me to come to terms with the reckless and irresponsible actions of the event management company's team. Their exploitation of laws intended to protect against sexual harassment—laws that are essential for safeguarding individuals, particularly women in our society—is both shocking and intolerable. The weaponization of such laws for personal vendettas, ego gratification, or retaliation against those who refuse to comply with unethical demands is unacceptable."
This reckless conduct undermines the credibility of survivors who demonstrate remarkable bravery in their pursuit of justice and obstructs the diligent efforts of those dedicated to eliminating such offenses. It is especially disheartening to witness young women engaging in such actions, as it detracts from the cause and fosters distrust regarding an issue that must always be approached with the highest level of seriousness, she remarked.
Monali further condemned the treatment of vendors and those laboring behind the scenes at the event. "It is entirely unacceptable to mistreat vendors, deceive them of their hard-earned income, or exploit them in any manner," she stated. "Disrespecting and harassing individuals working behind the scenes is not a constructive approach. Such behavior must never be tolerated or condoned."
