Fashion designer and actor Masaba Gupta tied the knot with actor Satyadeep Mishra in January 2023. The lovely couple is expecting their first child soon. The designer announced the news in April this year by sharing a beautiful pregnant woman emoji on Instagram, followed by a man and woman’s lovestruck emojis. She also shared a monochromatic picture with her husband Mishra. The duo looked glowing with happiness. However, ahead of welcoming her baby, Masaba recently shared how women surrounding her are giving her inappropriate advice.

Masaba Gupta makes shocking revelations

In an interview with Faye D'Souza, Masaba Masaba-actress shared that she has been receiving derogatory advice from women around her. She revealed that she has been advised to eat rasgullas and drink milk every day to make her child light-skinned. She has also been advised by her masseuse that she must do everything that will prevent her child from being dusky in color.

“It happened to me just yesterday that somebody who came up to me for some pre-natal something telling me, ‘You must eat a rasgulla every day' because your kid has to turn out lighter than you. And then, fifteen days before that, I was getting another prenatal massage, because that's what I do, and she said to me, ‘Aap na doodh liya karo (you must drink milk). Saawla nahi hona chahiye, nahi honi chahiye, whatever (your child must not turn out dusky)’. It was said with so much innocence. You have no choice. What can I do? Punch my masseuse? No”, Masaba shared.

How does Masaba Gupta deal with racism?

During the same interview, Masaba shared her insight on racism. She shared that she has been dealing with colorism since childhood, and she finds it absurd to put down people for their skin color. She also pointed out that not only lowly people, but even wealthy, highly educated people also have this kind of cheap mindset even in 2024.

She said, “You raise a child that hopefully has the resilience to power through it. That's all you do. There is no other way because it's not going to change. The number of times people think calling someone ‘kaali’ (dusky) is a way of putting them down, I find that so absurd. And I'm just giving you an example of a masseuse who comes from a certain section of society. You will be shocked at how many educated, wealthy, well-read people also feel this way. I'm witness to it till today. It's 2024, and it has not changed.”
