Actor Priyamani recently shared some insights about what she learned from Mohanlal, especially how he kept working even while his mom was in the hospital. In a chat with Filmfare, she expressed her admiration for his dedication to his craft and how he juggled that with his personal life. 

Priyamani talks about Mohanlal's dedication to his craft

Priyamani recalled a time when Mohanlal was filming the 2012 movie Grandmaster while his mom, Santhakumari Nair, was in the hospital and not doing well. She remembered the long shooting hours, often from 9 am until 6 pm or even later.

“He would head straight to the hospital after shooting, spend time with his mom, get ready there, and then return to the set. He was so professional about it. I asked him, ‘I know your mom is sick in the hospital; don’t you ever think about just stopping the shoot and being with her?’” Priyamani shared.

Mohanlal responded that when he’s on set, he’s focused on being an actor, and he only thinks of being a son when he’s off duty. He mentioned, “I keep my personal and professional lives separate. When I’m fulfilling my role as a son, I don’t let my work get in the way. But when I’m here, I might take a call, but I don’t want to inconvenience the director or the whole crew by asking them to halt the shoot. I don’t want to make everyone wait for me.” Priyamani said that day taught her a really important lesson from Mohanlal.

Latest projects

Mohanlal appeared in Malaikottai Vaaliban and Barroz in 2024. Coming up, he’s set to feature in Thudarum, L2: Empuraan, Hridayapoorvam, Vrushabha, Ram, Drishyam 3, and a project alongside Mammootty and Fahadh Faasil. He’ll also make a cameo in the Telugu movie Kannappa. Meanwhile, Priyamani’s Officer on Duty hit theaters this week, and she’s gearing up for roles in Jana Nayagan in Tamil and Khaimara in Kannada.
