The actor asserted that his actions were motivated by a desire to defend himself against "anti-social elements," and that the "media became unintentionally involved" in the incident.
What Mohan Babu said
Mohan Babu utilized his X account on Friday morning to issue a formal apology directed at the media organization associated with the journalist. He characterized the incident as "unfortunate" and conveyed his "deep regret." He stated, "It pains me deeply that what began as a personal family dispute escalated into a broader situation." Mohan Babu further explained that he had been hospitalized for health reasons over the past 48 hours; otherwise, he would have expressed his apologies earlier.
The actor elaborated that when a group of 30 to 50 individuals, including "anti-social elements," forcibly entered his residence, he lost his composure and inadvertently injured the journalist "in the heat of the moment." He noted that the "media became inadvertently involved" in the incident, resulting in "a deeply regrettable outcome." He subsequently extended his apologies to the journalist, his family, and the media organization, wishing the journalist a swift recovery.
What happened on Tuesday?
An attempt to murder charge has been incorporated into the case against Mohan Babu concerning his purported assault on a video journalist, as reported by police on Thursday. Following a complaint lodged by the 35-year-old journalist, an initial case was registered under Section 118 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or substances) of the BNS at the Pahadishareef police station. A senior police official indicated, “In light of the journalist's detailed statement, the charge has been modified to Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS.”
In his complaint, the journalist recounted that on December 10, while covering the ongoing conflict between Mohan Babu and his younger son Manoj Manchu at the actor's residence in Jalpally, he and other journalists were confronted aggressively by the senior actor. The journalist alleged that Mohan Babu seized the microphone, employed "abusive and foul language," and “attacked” him with it, resulting in a head injury, according to the complainant.
