Director Christopher McQuarrie is hinting at exciting developments regarding the upcoming Mission Impossible film, which is scheduled to premiere in theatres this Summer. He assures that viewers will experience intense thrills in Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, featuring Tom Cruise. In an interview with the forthcoming issue of Empire, as reported by Games Radar, McQuarrie mentioned that during an early screening, one audience member was so overwhelmed that they 'almost had a heart attack.'

During the interview, the director discussed the film and remarked, "We held a small screening, and one viewer commented, 'I felt like I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I nearly experienced a heart attack.' At that moment, I thought, 'It seems we achieved our goal.'" Christopher McQuarrie has been at the helm of every instalment in the film series since Rogue Nation.

Tom Cruise, portraying Ethan Hunt, is well-acquainted with perilous stunts in the Mission Impossible franchise. If the initial teaser trailer is any indication, the actor has once again delivered with a series of exhilarating action scenes. In one particular moment, he is depicted diving underwater and infiltrating a submarine.

The action film, with a budget of $400 million, has experienced several production delays. The eighth instalment serves as a direct sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. This 2023 film features Tom reprising his role as the lead character, Ethan Hunt. The production faced setbacks due to the Hollywood writers’ strike that occurred in July 2023.

In addition to Tom, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning will include performances by Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, and Greg Tarzan Davis. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 23, 2025.
