More about Anuja

Oscar-nominated live-action short film Anuja premiered on Netflix on February 5. Directed by Adam J Graves, the film is described as an inspiring and poignant narrative of resilience, love, and opportunity in the face of adversity.

The project features two-time Oscar winner Guneet Monga and renowned actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas as executive producers. Kaling expressed her appreciation to Netflix for presenting the film on their platform.

“It is a dream realized to have Anuja on Netflix, where it can reach the global audience it rightfully deserves. I am immensely thankful to Bela Bajaria and Netflix India for recognizing the beauty of this short film,” the actor-producer stated.

Graves, who co-produced Anuja with his wife Suchitra Mattai, expressed their excitement regarding the film's release.

“Suchitra and I are deeply appreciative that ‘Anuja’ has found its place on Netflix. This tale of hope was made possible through the collaboration of many talented and passionate individuals. We are delighted that the fruits of our collective efforts can now be shared with audiences worldwide,” he remarked.

In the live-action short film category at the forthcoming 97th Academy Awards, “Anuja” will be competing against “A Lien,” “I’m Not a Robot,” “The Last Ranger,” and “The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent.”

Anuja was produced in partnership with the Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT), a nonprofit organization established by the family of filmmaker Mira Nair to support street and working children, along with Shine Global and Krushan Naik Films.
