Mindy Kaling has responded to the unfavorable online commentary that emerged after her recent appearance on Meghan Markle's Netflix program. In a segment aired on Thursday's episode of The View, the 45-year-old comedian shared her experiences of spending time with the Duchess of Sussex while participating in the filming of Markle's cooking and lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan.

Kaling expressed her enjoyment of her experience on Meghan's show, stating, "I had a great time." The star of The Mindy Project also appeared to address the critics who took issue with Meghan correcting her when she referred to the duchess by her maiden name rather than her official surname.

She remarked, "I noticed that whenever I engage in anything related to Meghan, it becomes like…," pausing to find the right term to convey her feelings. Host Whoopi Goldberg interjected with, "Big News?" to which Kaling concurred, repeating, "Big News."

Kaling elaborated, "We were making sandwiches, and then they zoom in on my face on TikTok, and they say, ‘Look at this emotion you felt,’ but honestly, I didn’t even recall it, as we filmed it about nine months ago." This comment seemed to reference the social media scrutiny surrounding her interaction with Meghan regarding the name issue.

She emphasized that she "loved" her time spent with the duchess, adding, "It was great." Kaling also mentioned, "I’m also like, let her promote her show; I’m here to discuss Running Point!" about her own Netflix series.

Kaling found it intriguing to observe the public's reaction to Meghan, with Goldberg agreeing, "People love to hate her. People love to talk about her." Co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin contributed to the discussion, with Behar noting, "She triggers people," while Hostin described the Duchess of Sussex's series as "a beautifully made show and it’s aspirational."
