Anushka Sharma is presently in Australia, accompanying her husband, Virat Kohli, who is in the country with the Indian cricket team for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The celebrity couple welcomed the New Year in Sydney, where a video of their midnight stroll has emerged on social media.

Anushka and Virat's New Year celebrations

As the fourth Test concluded in Melbourne earlier this week, the team, accompanied by Anushka, travelled to Sydney in preparation for the final Test. On Tuesday night, as Australia ushered in the year 2025—several hours ahead of much of the world—fans shared a video of Virat and Anushka's understated New Year celebrations on social media.

The video, uploaded on X (formerly Twitter), captures Virat and Anushka, both dressed in black, strolling down a street in Sydney. The footage, taken from behind, showcases their walk along the avenue. Anushka is seen in a little black dress paired with heels, while Virat chose a black co-ord ensemble complemented by contrasting white sneakers. Another angle of the video revealed that they were joined by Virat's teammate from India, Devdutt Padikkal, during their outing.

Anushka and Virat in Australia

Virat Kohli's performance during the Australian tour has raised concerns, as he has struggled with a series of disappointing scores. Additionally, he recently sparked controversy by criticizing the Australian media for photographing his children without consent. Both Anushka and Virat have taken a strong stance on safeguarding the privacy of their children, Vamika and Akaay, urging photographers and media outlets to refrain from capturing their faces. Their social media presence also reflects this commitment, as none of their posts feature images of their children.

Anushka Sharma has been on an extended hiatus from acting, with her last film, Zero, released in 2018. She completed filming for the biopic Chakda Xpress, which centres on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, in 2023. Although the film was initially expected to premiere on Netflix in 2024, there have been no recent updates regarding its release. Currently, the actress does not have any forthcoming projects announced.
