Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke has been removed from Celebrity Big Brother following allegations of using "inappropriate sexual language" during the program. The 72-year-old, who won a Bafta for his role in The Wrestler, was asked to exit the ITV1 show on Saturday due to "continued use of inappropriate language" and "instances of unacceptable behavior," as reported.
Mickey Rourke's latest fight on Celebrity Big Brother
Rourke has created tension in the house since the start of the series, notably bringing former Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa to tears with remarks regarding her sexuality. The episode aired on Sunday, showcased the incidents leading to his exit, including a moment where his language made The Only Way Is Essex star Ella Rae Wise feel uncomfortable. Tensions escalated between Rourke and Love Island star Chris Hughes during a pirate-themed shopping challenge, where Siwa, assigned the role of captain, was responsible for navigating the ship. Rourke subsequently threatened Hughes, perceiving him as intimidating.
Following this, Big Brother summoned Rourke to the diary room for a reprimand. Rae Wise expressed that she felt "very uneasy" and referred to a comment Rourke made earlier that day, which unsettled her. In the diary room, Big Brother addressed Rourke, stating: "Earlier today, during a disagreement with Chris, your language and behavior were perceived as threatening and aggressive. Big Brother does not accept threatening language or behavior. Furthermore, you have used inappropriate sexual language towards Ella."

Rourke responded, “I wasn’t aware of that, but I understand.” Big Brother then stated, “Your choice of language has offended your fellow housemates and may also offend the viewing audience. This is not the first occasion on which Big Brother has addressed your use of offensive and inappropriate language.” Rourke expressed his regret, saying, “I crossed the line and I accept responsibility for my actions. I lost my temper, and I have been working on this issue throughout my life. I wish I had exercised better self-control, and I sincerely apologize. I feel ashamed for losing my composure, even if it was just for a moment. No one was physically harmed, but perhaps some feelings were hurt, and I regret that.”
Big Brother then informed him that there was “no choice but to ask you to leave the Big Brother house.” Rourke acknowledged, “I take full responsibility; it was my fault. I know I have a short temper, and I realize I upset many people. I am truly sorry for that.”
Mickey Rourke's controversial stay on the show
Rourke was nominated for eviction on Friday, along with former Conservative MP Sir Michael Fabricant and Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd, but he was spared by the public vote. Following Rourke's exit, Sir Michael shared a post on X, previously known as Twitter, announcing the departure and remarked, “He wanted to leave on day one.” Earlier in the week, Rourke had received an official warning from Big Brother for using “unacceptable language and behaviour” towards Siwa.
Hughes, 32, provided support to Siwa during Wednesday’s episode after Rourke stated he would “vote the lesbian out real quick.” The upcoming Sunday episode will also feature the housemates discovering 2024 celebrity contestant Lauren Simon relaxing in the hot tub.
