Musician Vishal Dadlani, who has served as a judge on the singing competition Indian Idol for six years, has announced his departure from the show. He shared a video and a heartfelt message on his Instagram account.

In the video, Vishal was accompanied by his fellow judges, Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah. The original audio was replaced with Christian 21's "Time," while Shreya was seen making playful expressions beside Vishal, and Badshah appeared to be speaking. In his message, Vishal explained that he is leaving the show "because he can’t remain in Mumbai for six months each year." He also mentioned that it is "time to return to creating music, performing at concerts, and rarely wearing make-up."
Vishal's reasons for departing the show
The video included a message stating, "That's all from me, folks! After six consecutive seasons, tonight marks my final episode as a judge on Indian Idol. I hope the show will miss me as much as I will miss it. My gratitude goes to Shreya, Badshah, Adi, Aradhana, Chitra, Anand ji, Sonal, Pratibha, Sahil, Saloni, Muskaan, Abisha, the entire production team, Vilas, Pakya, Kaushik (Pinky), and all the co-judges, singers, and musicians over the years! It truly has felt like home! That stage is filled with love!"
Vishal on the love he received on the show
In his farewell message, Vishal shared a heartfelt post stating, "Goodbye, friends. The memories I will cherish far exceed the enjoyment I experienced over six seasons." He included the sign of the horns and folded hands emojis and tagged several individuals and organizations associated with the show. He expressed, "I have received more love than I could have ever hoped for, thanks to this show. I am eternally grateful to everyone involved."
Vishal also extended his appreciation to the Indian Idol team, saying, "I hope the show will miss me as much as I will miss it. My departure is solely because I wish to reclaim my time; I cannot remain in Mumbai for six months each year!" He thanked numerous individuals, including Shreya, Badshah, Adi, Aradhana, Chitra, Anand ji, Ananya, Sonal, Pratibha, Sahil, Saloni, Muskaan, Abisha, the entire production team, as well as the mix, sound, and technical crew, lighting staff, stagehands, cleaning crew, and photographers, expressing love to all and apologizing to anyone he may have overlooked.
Vishal concluded with enthusiasm, stating, "It’s time to return to creating music, performing concerts, and avoiding make-up! It’s #VishalAndSheykhar season!! Jai ho!" In response, Aditya Narayan commented, "The end of an era. Indian Idol will never be the same without you, big brother. I am grateful for all the wonderful moments we shared." Vishal has served as a judge on the show since its tenth season in 2018, and the recently concluded fifteenth season crowned Manasi Ghosh as the winner.
