Karthi and Arvind Swami, the popular Tamil actors teamed up for the recently released slice-of-life drama film, Meiyazhagan. The movie, directed by C Prem Kumar, has been receiving immense love from both the cinephiles and critics. Meanwhile, the leading men, who are busy promoting the film, opened up about their favourite Malayalam films of recent times. Both Karthi and Arvind Swami also expressed their admiration for Mammootty, and his choice of films.

Arvind Swami calls Mammootty an inspiration

The Meiyazhagan actor, who revealed that he has always been an admirer of Malayalam cinema, expressed his respect for Mammootty in a recent chat with a Malayalam media. Arvind Swami, who stated that his Thalapathy co-star's film choices are highly inspiring, also revealed he is awe of the megastar’s recent performances. The actor-filmmaker also added that he was mesmerized by Mammootty’s performance in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, the Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial which is currently available for streaming on OTT.

Arvind Swami further added that he has been hearing great things about Bramayugam, the Mammootty starrer directed by Rahul Sadasivan, and is eagerly waiting to watch it (If you missed the period horror film in theatres, you can always stream the film on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium). The Meiyazhagan most favourite film in the past few years is Kumbalangi Nights, the Madhu C Narayanan directorial (the movie is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video). Arvind Swami also revealed that he is a fan of Soubin Shahir, in the interview.

Karthi’s favourite Malayalam films

The Ponniyin Selvan actor, who also expressed his admiration for Mammootty, further revealed that he recently watched Aavesham, the Fahadh Faasil starrer directed by Jithu Madhavan on Amazon Prime Video. Karthi further added that he also thoroughly enjoyed Manjummel Boys (currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), which was highly celebrated by the Tamil Nadu audiences. The Meiyazhagan star, who is in awe with the quality of film produced by Malayalam cinema, stated that the industry has always been enthusiastic about giving the audience unique content.
