Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, who had been married for 34 years, were discovered deceased at their residence in New Mexico on Wednesday. At the time of their passing, they were 95 and 63 years old, respectively. The couple, along with their dog, was reported dead, as stated by the Santa Fe New Mexican, referencing County Sheriff Adan Mendoza, who indicated that there were no immediate signs of foul play. The specific cause of their deaths has not yet been disclosed.

Authorities confirmed, "We can verify that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their home on Sunset Trail. This is an ongoing investigation; however, we currently do not suspect foul play was involved," according to Yahoo! News. Gene Hackman is survived by his children from a previous marriage.

Arakawa played a significant role in designing their home in Santa Fe, where they moved in 1990. That same year, their residence was featured in Architectural Digest. Hackman remarked on the furnishings, stating, “We acquired several items in Santa Fe, while others were sourced from auctions in New York, an antiques shop in Germany that Betsy and I discovered, and from Los Angeles. The result is a pleasing blend of soft southwestern elements and more robust antiques.”
