1 month ago | 5 Views
Mamta Kulkarni, the former actress, has been in the spotlight lately after returning to India after quite a while. Upon her arrival, she chose to join the Kinnar Akhada as the Mahamandaleshwar. This happened during the Maha Kumbh, and videos of her participation started popping up on social media. However, this sparked some controversy, with spiritual leaders raising questions about her choice. Now, on February 10, Mamta announced on social media that she is stepping down from her role as the Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhada. Stay tuned for more updates...
Mamta Kulkarni will keep being a sadhvi
In a video posted on her Instagram, the Karan Arjun actress shared, "I, Mahamandaleshwar Yamai Mamta Nandagiri, am resigning from this position. I’ve been facing issues between Kinnare Akhade and the other akhade. I’ve been a Sadhvi for 25 years, and I will continue to be one."
She also reflected on her departure from the industry 25 years ago, saying, "I left Bollywood 25 years back. I went completely off the radar. Who stays that far from makeup and Bollywood?" Additionally, she mentioned that many people were not pleased with her becoming Mahamandaleshwar. Addressing rumors about paying for the title, Mamta Kulkarni stated, "When I was asked for two lakhs, I didn’t have it. Jai Ambagiri Mahamandaleshwar covered it from his own pocket. The money I have comes from deep penance, not from chasing material things." Check it out:
Right after she posted the video, her comments blew up with tons of love from her fans. One fan said, "We respect your decision, ma'am." Another chimed in with, "We support you, we love you always." Many others were encouraging her to get back to her usual routine and start sharing more pics and videos on her account.
Ramdev Baba criticized the decision
Earlier, when Mamta was named the Mahamandaleshwar, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev didn't hold back his criticism. He pointed out that sainthood isn't something you can achieve overnight. According to PTI, Ramdev Baba remarked, "The grand Kumbh festival of Sanatana, which connects us to our roots, is a magnificent celebration. It's a holy event. Unfortunately, some people link it with vulgarity, intoxication, and bad behavior, which isn't what the Maha Kumbh is about. It's strange how some folks, who were just enjoying worldly pleasures yesterday, suddenly claim to be saints or even get titles like Mahamandaleshwar in a day."
Mamta Kulkarni starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in the movie Karan Arjun.
