Mamta Kulkarni, who was recently appointed as the Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara, was subsequently removed from her position due to internal conflicts within the community. In an interview with Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat, the actress addressed allegations that she had paid ₹10 crore to attain the title of Mahamandaleshwar.

In response to the claims regarding the alleged payment, Mamta refuted the accusations, highlighting her dire financial situation. She stated, “I do not possess ₹10 crore, nor even ₹1 crore. The government has seized my bank accounts. You are unaware of the hardships I am enduring. I have no money; I had to borrow ₹2 lakh from someone to provide as 'dakshina' to my guru when I was appointed Mahamandaleshwar.”

The former Bollywood actress further disclosed, “Three of my apartments are in disrepair and infested with termites, as they have been unoccupied for the last 23 years. I cannot adequately express the financial turmoil I am experiencing.”

Mamta Kulkarni’s appointment as Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara led to significant controversy and discord within the community. On January 31, Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of the Kinnar Akhara, released a press statement announcing her removal. He remarked, “She was directly granted the title and patta of Mahamandaleshwar without adhering to any religious or akhara traditions and without first being made a renunciate. Therefore, in the interest of the country, Sanatan Dharma, and society, I am reluctantly compelled to relieve her of her duties.”
