Mamta Kulkarni has retired from acting and embraced a spiritual journey. In a recent interview, Mamta reflected on her acting career and shared her recollections from the 1990s.
Mamta Kulkarni on Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan
In an interview with India TV, Mamta responded to her Karan Arjun co-star Salman Khan's assertion that she had yelled at him and Shah Rukh Khan during the filming of the movie three decades ago. Mamta refuted the claim, explaining that the incident began when choreographer Chinni Prakash summoned her one day. She recounted, “I ascended the stairs, and as I did, both Salman and Shah Rukh passed by and chuckled. I remained silent. It was around 8 in the evening when I approached the masterji, who informed me, ‘You will perform this particular step alone.’ I was taken aback, asking, ‘What do you mean?’”
The following morning, during the shoot, Mamta discovered that Salman and Shah Rukh had playfully persuaded the choreographer to assign her the more challenging steps, intending to disrupt the performance. “My first shot was approved right away. I noticed both Shah Rukh and Salman observing me from behind a bush, laughing once more. Their next shot required them to perform a step on their knees in front of a crowd of 5,000 people. They took numerous retakes, and eventually, the director called for a pack-up. We all hurried to our rooms. I realized they had played a trick on me the previous evening. I was determined not to let them manipulate the choreographer into giving me all the difficult steps. So, when they dashed up, I followed suit. As soon as I arrived, Salman blocked my way and closed the door in my face. That was the end of it,” she recounted.
