Mamta Kulkarni, the former actress, recently grabbed attention when she took sanyas at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 by joining the Kinnar Akhara. Videos and photos from the event quickly spread across social media. However, shortly after, the organization decided to remove her from her role as Mahamandaleshwar. In the midst of all this, Mamta also reflected on her infamous semi-nude photoshoot from the 90s and talked about her dance track, Koi Jaye To Le Aaye from the movie Ghatak.

In a recent chat with Aap Ki Adalat, Mamta talked about being on a magazine cover back when she was in 9th grade, and she didn’t see it as anything inappropriate. She mentioned, "The Stardust team showed me a picture of Demi Moore, and I thought it was fine. I even said back then, ‘I’m still a virgin,’ and people couldn’t handle that because they believe everyone does crazy things to get into Bollywood. Sure, some might, especially for money, but that wasn’t my story. My dad was a transport commissioner for 35 years. I was totally clueless about sex, so I didn’t even know what nudity was. If you’re not aware of sexual stuff, you won’t think of nudity as being obscene."

She also mentioned that when it comes to the bold lyrics in the songs she performed, dancers like Madhuri Dixit don’t really pay attention to the words. Their main focus is just on nailing the dance moves.

In that same interview, she shared her reasons for joining Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi's song "Koi Jaye To Le Aaye" from Ghatak. She mentioned that she had just come back from a world tour with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan before filming the song. The former actress explained, "Director Raj Kumar Santoshi asked me to be a part of it. The movie had been on hold for seven years because the lead actress, Meenakshi Seshadri, got married, and no one wanted to buy it. I approached my dance number like it was a stage performance, which is something I excel at."
