Mammootty is seen as one of the most active actors of his time. Recently, social media buzzed with rumors claiming that he had been diagnosed with cancer and would be stepping away from acting. However, his team has put those rumors to rest with a statement to Midday, confirming that the actor is in great health.

The statement said, "That's just fake news. He's actually on vacation to observe fasting for Ramzan. He's also taking a break from his filming schedule for the same reason. Once the break is over, he'll return to work on Mahesh Narayanan’s movie with Mohanlal."

Regarding his upcoming plans

Fans are super excited to see Mahesh Narayanan's upcoming film, which will feature the legendary Mammootty and Mohanlal sharing the screen for the first time in years. The movie also includes Fahadh Faasil and is currently going by the working title MMM (Mammootty, Mohanlal, Mahesh Narayanan).

Mammootty recently snagged his 15th Filmfare Award for his role in the 2023 film Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. He also received a lot of praise for his performance in Kaathal: The Core. His latest appearances were in Dominic and the Ladies' Purse.

The plot follows Dominic, an ex-cop and struggling detective, who takes on the task of finding the owner of a lost purse. Little does he know, he’s about to get tangled up in a major conspiracy. The thriller also features Gokul Suresh, Lena, Siddique, Vijay Babu, and Viji Venkatesh, and is produced by Mammootty himself under his banner, Mammootty Kampany.

A review from the Hindustan Times mentioned, “The film's pacing is quite slow and can test your patience at times, especially with unnecessary songs and poorly choreographed fight scenes. You find yourself wishing the director would just dive into the investigation. While there are some twists and turns introduced through various characters, many of these scenes feel drawn out.”
