In 2024, allegations of drug abuse within the Malayalam film industry garnered significant media attention. Previously, actress Vincy Aloshious expressed her decision to avoid collaborating with actors who engage in drug use. This declaration ignited discussions online, prompting Vincy to further explain her position, sharing a distressing incident involving a co-star under the influence who behaved inappropriately towards her on set.

At the inauguration of the 67th operational year of the KCYM Ernakulam-Angamaly Major Archdiocese, which took place at Pallippuram Church, Vincy stated, "If I know that someone is using drugs, I will refuse to work in any film alongside them."

Vincy recalls drugged co-star misbehaving with her

Recently, Vincy took to Instagram to explain the reasoning behind her earlier statement. In a video, she said, “A few days ago, during an anti-drug campaign event, I declared that I would no longer collaborate on films with individuals I know to be drug users. Following this declaration, I received numerous comments. Upon reading them, I felt it necessary to clarify the context of my statement.

"I was involved in a film project where one of the lead actors was using drugs and exhibited inappropriate behavior. This made our collaboration quite challenging. There was a problem with my costume, and as I was heading to resolve it, he unexpectedly insisted on accompanying me, claiming, ‘I can help get it ready.’ This occurred in front of others, which only heightened the discomfort of the situation," she explained.

She further recounted, "During a rehearsal for a scene, a white substance spilled from his mouth onto the table. It was clear that he was using drugs on set, which caused significant disruption for everyone present. While personal drug use is one matter, its influence on a professional setting is entirely unacceptable. I refuse to work in such conditions. I do not wish to collaborate with someone who is unaware of how their behavior affects those around them. This decision stems from my own experiences, and I firmly support it. Everyone was aware of the situation; even the director addressed it with him." She also mentioned that her remarks could potentially jeopardize her future film opportunities.

Vincy's recent and upcoming work

Vincy was last featured in the film Marivillin Gopurangal. In 2022, she was honored with the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for her compelling role in Rekha. Her upcoming project is the movie Soothravakyam, which also stars Shine Tom Chacko and Deepak Parambol.
