Malayalam actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi have reportedly been implicated in a drug case linked to hybrid cannabis. According to a report from Zee News Malayalam, a woman named Taslima Sultana claimed she provided drugs to both actors after her arrest for possession. It seems that excise notices are set to be issued to them.

After the news of his supposed involvement came out, Sreenath reportedly told Kerala Kaumudi that the entire situation is nonsense and accused people of making up stories. He also mentioned that he wouldn’t comment further on the matter. However, a report from Zee indicates that the excise department will soon send notices to the actors for questioning.

Taslima Sultana, also known as Christina, was arrested in Alappuzha on Tuesday night with over ₹2 crore worth of hybrid cannabis. She has reportedly worked as an extra and a script translator in the film industry. The Excise Department, which conducted her arrest, allegedly found evidence connecting her to the actors involved.

Shine has not yet addressed these allegations. Earlier this year, in February, he was acquitted by a Kerala court after being implicated in a drug case from 2015. According to PTI, this case involves the alleged seizure of cocaine and the arrest of five individuals, including Shine, on January 31, 2015, at a luxury apartment in Kadavanthra.

Sreenath is a popular actor, singer, and radio jockey in the Malayalam film scene. He made his acting debut in the 2011 movie Pranayam and rose to fame with the 2012 film Da Thadiya. Since then, he has appeared in several notable films, including Kumbalangi Nights, Kappela, and Trance. In 2024, he featured in LLB: Life Line of Bachelors and Manjummel Boys. Coming up, he will be seen in Unlock, Dhuniyavinte Orattathu, Namukku Kodathiyil Kaanam, and Khajuraho Dreams.

Shine is also a prominent figure in Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil cinema. He kicked off his career in 2011 with Gaddama and found his big break in 2014 with Ithihasa. He has since been part of films like Jigarthanda DoubleX and Dasara. Recently, he appeared in Daaku Maharaaj, Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, Chattuli, Robinhood, and Abhilasham. He has upcoming projects including Bazooka, Aaraam Thirukalpana, Velleppam, and Paradise Circus.
