Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora's father Anil Mehta had a shocking demise. As per reports, he dies by suicide. A while ago, Malaika officially informed everyone about the devastating incident and requested media and well-wishers to give them privacy at this difficult time.

Malaika Arora pens emotional note after father Anil Mehta's demise

Taking to her Instagram handle a while ago, Malaika Arora shared a post with a picture of her late father Anil Mehta. The text of the image read, "We are deeply saddaned to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend."

The text further read, "Our family is in deep shock by this loss and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect. With gratitude, Joyce, Malaika, Amrita, Shakeel, Arhaan, Azaan, Rayyan, Casper, Axl, Duffy & Buddy." 

Celebrities rushed to Malaika's parents house

After hearing the news, Arjun Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, and other celebrities were seen arriving at Malaika's parents' house to extend their support to the family. 

Malaika Arora's father reportedly jumped off building

ABP News reported Anil Mehta jumped off the building around 9 am on September 11. The mortal remains of Malaika's father have been kept in Baba Hospital as per the report.

Meanwhile, ANI shared Mumbai Police's statement as they tweeted, "Father of actress-model Malaika Arora died by suicide by jumping off a terrace. Police team is present at the spot."

Malaika's mother Joyce Polycarp shares details about tragic incident

In her statement to the police, Malaika and Amrita Arora's mother, Joyce Polycarp, shared details about the tragic incident involving her ex-husband.

Joyce explained that although they were divorced, they had started living together again over the past few years. She said that Malaika's father had a routine of sitting on the balcony every morning to read the newspapers.

On the morning of the incident, Joyce noticed Anil’s slippers in the living room and this led her to search for him on the balcony. But he wasn't there. As she leaned over the balcony railing to look down, she saw a commotion and the building's guard shouting for help. This is when she realized that something was terribly wrong.
