Actor Malaika Arora didn't hold back when a 16-year-old contestant on Hip Hop India Season 2 made some inappropriate gestures during his performance. As a judge on the show, alongside choreographer Remo D'Souza, she showed her disapproval and quickly called out the young performer.
Malaika Arora reprimands a contestant for their unsuitable dance moves
The show premiered on March 14 on Amazon MX Player, and during the first episode, Malaika lost her temper with a contestant. This moment was caught on video and has since made its way onto social media.
Naveen Shah, a 16-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, auditioned for the show, but things took a weird turn during his performance. He made several suggestive gestures towards Malaika, which clearly upset her and led to a strong response.
After he finished, Malaika didn't hold back her frustration, saying, “Can I have your mother’s phone number? You’re just a 16-year-old kid. While dancing, you’re looking at me, winking, and blowing kisses.”
To ease the tension, Remo stepped in and added a bit of humor to the mix. With a playful vibe, he jokingly asked the contestant if he took after his mom or dad.
Other contestants chimed in, with one remarking, “He deserved to be called out. Did he really do that in front of her?”
Things calmed down, and they brought the contestant’s dad up on stage. Later, both Malaika and Remo shared some laughs with him. When discussing his son's antics, the father said, “He seems all sweet and innocent, but trust me, he’s not. He’s been chatting with girls all night long.”
Malaika Arora gets a wave of support from social media users
Social media users were pretty upset and disappointed with the contestant's actions, and many applauded Malaika for stepping up and calling out the inappropriate behavior.
One user commented, “She’s right… this is necessary for this 16-year-old kid,” while another added, “She’s correct… Malaika might even be older than his mom.”
“Teenage girls do similar things on social media, and no one says a word about it,” one fan pointed out, with another calling it “shameless.”
Amazon MX Player’s Hip Hop Season 2 will showcase eleven hip-hop dance acts, giving viewers a glimpse into their journeys through personal video diaries and behind-the-scenes content. Manisha Rani and Wicked Sunny will host this season. Before this, Malaika has judged other dance reality shows like Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa, India’s Best Dancer, and India’s Got Talent.
