Why did Upasana Singh get rejected for Maine Pyar Kiya?
In a discussion with Siddharth Kannan, Upasana Singh disclosed that she auditioned for the role of Suman and had the opportunity to meet Sooraj Barjatya in Mumbai. The actress was briefed on all aspects of the film and her character. Upasana stated that she was chosen by the director; however, her selection was ultimately overturned by his father, Rajkumar Barjatya, who declined her for the film Maine Pyar Kiya.
The following day, I encountered his father, who expressed his disapproval of me. They are genuinely kind individuals, so rather than outright rejecting me, they simply did not reach out again, she recounted. Subsequently, during the filming of another Rajshri production, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, Rajkumar Barjatya disclosed that Upasana was initially considered for the role opposite Salman Khan.
Regarding the reason for her rejection, Upasana reflected, "He mentioned, 'I am not making an excuse, but you were taller than Salman.' That was the explanation provided to me. They were seeking someone slightly shorter than Salman, which is why I was not selected. They were truthful in their reasoning."
