Vicky Kaushal featured in Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, which drew inspiration from the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The historical action drama achieved remarkable box office success, earning ₹800 crore worldwide. In a recent interview with Mirchi Marathi, Mahesh Manjrekar reflected on the film's tremendous success and the role Maharashtra played in it. He mentioned that the film succeeded due to the historical character rather than the actor.

Mahesh's thoughts on Chhaava

Discussing the movie, Mahesh expressed in Marathi, “Vicky Kaushal is an exceptional actor. His movie Chhaava grossed ₹800 crore. However, Vicky Kaushal can't claim that audiences came to see him. If that were the case, they would have shown up for the last five films as well. The viewers came to watch your character. His last five films were not successful. ”

Maharashtra deserves 80 percent of the credit

He continued to state that Maharashtra deserves recognition for the film's success, affirming, “So my Maharashtra has rescued the Hindi film industry, keep this in mind. Currently, Chhaava is performing well, and 80 percent of its acknowledgment belongs to Maharashtra. Actually, 90 percent of the acknowledgment is attributed to Pune, with the remainder allocated to other regions of Maharashtra. Maharashtra is capable of saving the industry. ”

Inspired by the life of Maratha warrior Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the historical drama has surged past the ₹600 crore threshold in India. As per Sacnilk, the film has surpassed the ₹800 crore benchmark globally, accumulating ₹807. 6 crore.

Helmed by director Laxman Utekar, Chhaava features Rashmika Mandanna portraying the role of Sambhaji Maharaj's spouse, Yesubai Bhonsale. Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta are also included in prominent roles. The film has been produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner.
