Director Nithilan Saminathan who made the Tamil commercially hit film Maharaja, recently opened up about how a part of the script was once offered to actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, but how the project then could not take place. The latter has also reacted to the statement. Read on further to know what Shanthnu said about missing on doing Maharaja.
Maharaja was first offered to Shanthnu Bhagyaraj
In an interview, Nithilan said how he had narrated the story to many actors and producers, one of them being Shanthnu. "He liked the project very much, and took me to many producers. But it did not sync well between the producers and us. While it got delayed, I went ahead and did Kurangu Bommai. But I retained the core plot of that story and made Maharaja out of it," said Nithilan.
Reacting to this clip shared on social media, Shanthnu shared how elated he is that Nithilan could bring Maharaja to life and earn the recognition worldwide. “It reassures me that I picked the right script back then. Secondly, it’s incredibly kind of him to give me credit even after 10 years, really happy for you brother,” Shanthnu wrote.
While there were comments from many people that Shanthnu’s career did not take off well due to his father and screenwriter Bhagyaraj, the actor addressed, “For all the questions below, neither my father nor I had anything to do with rejecting this script (in fact, my father didn’t even know Nithilan approached me). At that time, producers weren’t willing to take the risk, but today, it’s proven that “Content is King.”
