Recently, it was reported that Madhavan has been cast as the antagonist in the film Benz, which is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and features Raghava Lawrence in the leading role. However, the actor has since clarified that he is not involved in this highly anticipated project from the Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe (LCU).

Madhavan is not the antagonist in Benz

Reports have indicated that Madhavan, known for his roles as morally ambiguous characters in films such as Ayutha Ezhuthu, Nishabdham, and Shaitaan, has been cast as the antagonist in the upcoming film Benz. Given the interconnected nature of all LCU films, fans expressed enthusiasm at the possibility of Madhavan joining this cinematic universe.

However, Madhavan took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the speculation, stating that while he would be thrilled to participate in the LCU, he has not been contacted regarding Benz. He remarked, “Hey this is news to me. (laughter emoji) as much as it sounds exciting and I would love to be part of a universe like this. I’m surprised with this news because I have no clue about this.”

Supporters, nonetheless, continued to nurture their optimism, with one individual stating, “@Dir_Lokesh Bhau ... it is essential that you bring this to fruition now... we require Maddy Bhau in your universe... please make this a reality…” Another individual expressed, “There is one rumour I sincerely wish to be validated @Dir_Lokesh; only you possess the ability to realize it.” A disheartened fan remarked, “It would have been thrilling to see you portray an evil villain.” Meanwhile, an optimistic fan noted, “I am anticipating an intense confrontation between you and #Rolex,” alluding to Suriya’s menacing gangster character in the LCU.

About Benz

Benz marks the first film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) that will not be directed by Lokesh, although he has contributed to the screenplay and is serving as a producer. The film's announcement took place in April of this year, and a teaser featuring Raghava, dressed in an apron and wielding a gun, was unveiled on his birthday in October. Meanwhile, Lokesh is occupied with directing Coolie, which stars Rajinikanth. Madhavan is set to appear in upcoming projects including Test, Shankara, and Dhurandhar.
