Celebrities in Mumbai attended the screening of "Loveyapa," featuring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, on Wednesday and have expressed enthusiastic reviews. A video released by the film's team from the event showcases numerous actors, directors, and other industry figures commending the romantic comedy, which is set to premiere on Friday, February 7.

A thumbs up from celebs

Veteran actor Dharmendra commended the authentic performances of the young actors, stating, “This is a story that resonates with every household. Their acting was incredibly natural; at no point did it appear as though they were performing.” 

Ali Fazal expressed his approval of the film, while Shabana Azmi described it as ‘very nice,’ noting that it highlights the current obsession with mobile phones. Javed Akhtar remarked, “It is a remarkable and distinctly different film.”

Recently, director Karan Johar shared an Instagram post stating, “Prepare for the first love story success of 2025… #LoveYapa engages the tech-savvy and app-focused Gen Z with a narrative that is not only highly entertaining but also delivers meaningful insights with clarity and conciseness. It truly represents an exceptional cinematic experience! Audiences will find themselves enamoured with the diverse cast and will cheer for the charming and captivating leads, #junaidkhan and @khushikapoor.”

Kajol expressed her support on Twitter, saying, “Wishing the entire team of #LoveYapa the very best. This film is a must-see, so be sure to watch it in theaters near you.”

Junaid is the eldest son of actor Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Dutta. Khushi is the daughter of the late actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, and she is also the sister of actress Janhvi Kapoor.

At the screening on Wednesday, Aamir's peers and friends, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, were also present. They are likely to share their reviews of the film on social media soon.

Loveyapa is the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil film Love Today (2022). The trailer reveals that Khushi and Junaid, also known as Baani and Gucci, are eager to marry. However, their charming Gen-Z romance takes an unforeseen twist when the bride's father proposes a challenge: they must exchange their phones for a duration of 24 hours. The revelations that follow create obstacles in their pursuit of a blissful future together.

Junaid has previously appeared in the OTT film Maharaj, while Khushi featured in Zoya Akhtar's The Archies.
