ZEE5 has recently launched a cyber thriller titled Logout. Featuring Babil Khan in the role of a social media influencer, the film explores the negative impacts of the online realm and the perils associated with digital stardom. It is currently available for streaming on the OTT platform, and viewers can also access it through their OTTplay Premium subscription. In a recent interview, Babil discussed the timeless message of the film and explained his reasons for taking on this project.

Speaking  to Connected to India, Babil Khan said that Logout is based upon our use of phone and how it becomes like a body part of us on social media.

"But the truth about the soul of the character of Logout is his need, his desire for external validation. How he sacrifices his self-worth and self-love for an image that is based upon the opinions of others, and he attaches his identity to that and then forgets about the difference between the two," he said. 

Irrfan Khan's son explained that he selected the film because its message is timeless, addressing the concept of external validation, a constant element within the system.

Logout is a cyber thriller that centers on Pratyush Dua, portrayed by Babil Khan, a social media influencer whose life spirals out of control when an obsessive fan, Sakshi (played by Nimisha Nair), steals his phone. This fan takes over Pratyush's digital persona and manipulates his online presence, shedding light on the risks of digital celebrity and the emotional exploitation that can occur in the virtual realm.

In Babil Khan expressed that portraying a contemporary influencer and navigating the intricacies of digital success presented a distinctive challenge, particularly as his character contrasts sharply with his own personality. 

"I take immense pride in being part of a narrative that resonates so strongly in today's world, highlighting the more troubling aspects of our online existence," he remarked.

For those unfamiliar, Logout has been showcased at esteemed festivals, including the 21st Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2024, Mal Del Plata 2024, Indian Film Festival Melbourne 2024, and the River to River Florence Indian Film Festival 2024. The film is directed by Amit Golani and features Rasika Dugal in the cast.
