Blake Lively reemerged on Instagram on Wednesday, marking her first appearance since initiating two legal actions against Justin Baldoni. Utilizing her platform, she redirected attention by posting two Instagram Stories that provided essential resources for individuals affected by the catastrophic wildfires that have been ravaging Los Angeles since Tuesday. Demonstrating her solidarity with the community, Lively urged her followers to assist those impacted by this crisis.
Lively’s first post since she filed the Baldoni lawsuit
In the initial Google document disseminated by Lively, she provided valuable links to shelters and animal boarding facilities, all curated by @mutualaidla. In this document, she expressed, “To everyone affected by the Los Angeles fires…”
The subsequent slide shared by Lively presented an update regarding the Google sheet, where she urged her followers to add further resources. She stated, “MALAN is consistently updating this Google sheet with mutual aid resources for individuals in LA. It contains information on shelters, free PPE, food, animal rescues, and more. If you possess additional resources, please share them with @mutualaidla,” as reported by Daily Mail.
Despite the persistent wildfires in Los Angeles, Lively and her spouse, Ryan Reynolds, primarily reside in Pound Ridge, New York, along with their four children: James, 10, Inez, 8, Betty, 5, and Olin, 1. The couple also owns an apartment in New York City.
Lively’s lawyers respond in new statement
On January 7, a new statement from the former Gossip Girl star was released, asserting, “This is not a ‘feud’ stemming from ‘creative differences’ or a ‘he said/she said’ scenario,” as initially reported by People Magazine. The statement elaborated, “As outlined in Ms Lively’s complaint, which we will substantiate in court, Wayfarer and its affiliates engaged in unlawful, retaliatory astroturfing against Ms Lively merely for attempting to safeguard herself and others on a film set. Their reaction to the lawsuit has been to intensify their attacks against Ms. Lively following her filing,” according to The Independent.
The statement further emphasized, “Sexual harassment and retaliation are unlawful in every workplace and across all industries. A common strategy to divert attention from such allegations is to ‘blame the victim’ by implying that they provoked the behaviour, brought it upon themselves, misinterpreted the intentions, or even fabricated the claims.”
It concluded with, “Another prevalent tactic is to invert the roles of victim and perpetrator, suggesting that the perpetrator is, in fact, the victim. Such notions serve to normalize and trivialize serious misconduct allegations. Most critically, media statements do not constitute a defence against Ms. Lively’s legal claims. We will persist in pursuing her claims in federal court, where the rule of law, rather than exaggeration and intimidation, will determine the outcome.”
