Lil Wayne will never perform at Super Bowl. Here's why

Wayne expressed to the outlet on Thursday, "They took away that feeling," and added, "I have no desire to participate. It was flawless." Earlier this year, the NFL championship took place in New Orleans, the hometown of the Lollipop artist.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., known as Wayne, has long aspired to take the stage during a Super Bowl halftime show, as he revealed in a previous interview. He admitted in a video that being overlooked this year "hurt" him deeply.

Despite the considerable excitement surrounding Lamar's performance, Wayne chose not to watch the halftime show. Instead, he spent his time playing pool with his friend and fellow rapper Lil Twist. “Every time I glanced over,” he remarked, “there was nothing that compelled me to go inside and see what was happening.”

In another part of the interview, Wayne elaborated on his attempts to secure the performance opportunity, stating, “To perform, there are numerous directives you must follow, along with certain people to appease and others to avoid.”

He continued, “If you pay attention, I participated in events I had never been involved in before, such as [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I was collaborating with Tom Brady. That was all part of the effort. You’ve never seen me in those kinds of settings. I’m not Drake; I don’t go around smiling like that all the time. I’m in the studio, smoking and recording.”

After making significant efforts, Wayne felt assured about being chosen as the headliner. However, when Lamar was announced, an NFL representative informed him, “We don’t control the halftime show.” He added, “Suddenly, according to them, things changed,” and concluded, “So, I’ll just have to accept whatever they decide.”
