The Brit Awards honoured the memory of Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, who tragically passed away in October of the previous year at the age of 31 following a fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina. The event's host, Jack Whitehall, presented a video tribute to the late singer.

Jack expressed, "At this moment, it is important to pause and honour a truly remarkable individual who held great significance for many present in this room, as well as for millions around the globe. Last October, we were met with the heartbreaking news of Liam Payne's untimely passing."

"He accomplished an extraordinary amount during his brief time with us, not only as an exceptionally talented musician but also as a genuinely compassionate person who positively impacted everyone he encountered. We cherish countless wonderful memories of Liam here at The Brits. Therefore, this evening, we commemorate his legacy and reflect on the extraordinary life of Liam Payne," he continued.

How Brit Awards honoured Liam Payne

The video featured images from Liam's early years, including a black-and-white recording with his family, a segment from his appearance on The X Factor, and moments with One Direction, a group that garnered seven Brit Awards before their disbandment. The background was accompanied by their popular song "Little Things," while a scene depicted Liam as he recorded a rendition of the track.

Additionally, the montage showcased a photograph of him with Queen Elizabeth II. In the video, Payne remarked, “We anticipated that something might occur, but never anything of this magnitude. I constantly strive to remind myself of my origins and the journey I have undertaken in my life. It is truly remarkable.”

About Liam

After their collaboration on The X Factor, Liam gained prominence alongside his bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. Following the hiatus of One Direction, Liam embarked on a successful solo career, debuting with his album LP1 in December 2019. This album featured tracks such as "Polaroid" and "Strip That Down," which included a collaboration with Quavo, as well as "For You," a duet with Rita Ora.

Although his bandmates were not present at the Brit Awards this year, they attended his funeral in November of the previous year. They issued a joint statement expressing their profound devastation and stating that they would miss him "terribly," while also emphasizing that the "memories we shared with him will be treasured forever."
