Christopher Nolan is currently engaged in the production of his upcoming film, The Odyssey, inspired by Homer's renowned epic of the same name. This project features an impressive cast, including Matt Damon and Tom Holland, and is reported to be among the most costly films directed by Nolan. On Wednesday, Deuxmoi, a gossip platform, disclosed previously unseen images from the film's set, showcasing Tom Holland's initial appearance in the movie along with additional insights.

The Odyssey shoot pictures leaked

On Wednesday, Deuxmoi posted images from Backgrid on their social media platforms. The accompanying caption stated: "Tom Holland is on set filming Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated film, 'The Odyssey,' in Greece." The images depict Tom wearing a long robe and sporting unkempt hair as he boards a boat alongside fellow actors dressed in traditional ancient Greek clothing. Christopher Nolan is also featured in some of the photos, guiding his cast.

Additional images showcase an ancient Greek vessel in the water and in front of a dilapidated port. There are also scenes of soldiers aboard the boats, with crew members assisting the actors with their costumes.

Historical inaccuracies in Nolan's Odyssey?

Following the release of the images, numerous fans began to speculate about which segment of the epic was being filmed. One individual commented, "Are they filming on location? This is going to be incredible." Another expressed astonishment at the rapid progress of the production, stating, "How have they already commenced shooting with complete costumes and all?" However, there were also expressions of disappointment. Some users on Instagram lamented the lack of Greek actors in such a significant and iconic Greek narrative. Others criticized the historically inaccurate armour worn by the soldiers.

This star-studded production by Universal Pictures is an adaptation of Homer's renowned Greek epic poem and includes a cast featuring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, and Jon Bernthal, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The supporting roles will be played by Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton.

Homer's Odyssey, one of the most celebrated masterpieces of Western literature, narrates the adventures of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, as he embarks on a treacherous journey back home after the Trojan War.

Throughout his voyage, Odysseus faces divine interventions, encounters mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, and resists the allure of the enchanting Sirens. The release date for The Odyssey is set for July 17, 2026.
