Six months is what Pramod Shetty said he needs to lose the weight he put on for his upcoming film Laughing Buddha. The film’s producer and Pramod’s good pal Rishab Shetty did not believe him and neither did actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty, for whose Richard Anthony he had to get in shape. Pramod took it as a challenge and knocked off the weight without too much effort.

Speaking to RJ Nethra, Pramod said that gaining weight for Laughing Buddha was no problem at all, but when it came to knocking this extra load off, his wife insisted that he approach a dietitian and follow a proper regimen. As it turns out, one of the cast members of Laughing Buddha was a certified dietitian, who gave Pramod a diet chart to follow. Small meals eaten at regular intervals – this was not something the actor’s body could adjust to, so the diet was discarded after only a day.

How Pramod Shetty got in shape for Richard Anthony

But Pramod was determined to live up to his word of losing weight, so he formulated his own diet. A form of intermittent dieting is what he followed, eating a hearty breakfast in the morning and then following that up with a second and last meal of the day at around 6-6.30 pm. He did not spend hours in the gym, in fact, Pramod says that he did not follow any tailored fitness programme during this time. The only physical activity he got being an hour of badminton on days he was at home.

Laughing Buddha, meanwhile, is set for an August 23 theatrical release. Pramod plays the protagonist in the film, which revolves around a police constable and his request to take a day off to spend time with family. What happens when his request is turned down forms the crux of the film directed by Bharath M Raj. Gantumoote fame Teju Belawadi is paired with Pramod in the film, which brings Premalu music director Vishnu Vijay to Kannada cinema.
