The highly anticipated film L2 - Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, is scheduled for release on May 27. As the release date approaches, the promotional team is traveling throughout India to market the film on a national scale. This movie, which is a sequel to Lucifer, is directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. During one of the promotional events, Mohanlal discussed the endeavor of creating a pan-Indian film originating from the modest Malayalam film industry.

L2: Empuraan actor Mohanlal: Malayalam industry has been to do many firsts

In the wake of the successful 2019 Malayalam film Lucifer, actor Mohanlal has collaborated with director Prithviraj Sukumaran for the sequel, named L2: Empuraan. This action thriller is set to be released on March 27. In preparation for the launch, the team is actively engaged in promoting the film.

During an event in Mumbai, Mohanlal, accompanied by Prithviraj and other prominent cast members, participated in discussions. The renowned actor emphasized the evolution of the Malayalam film industry, traditionally recognized for its modest productions, as it ventures into creating a significant pan-Indian film like L2: Empuraan.

"We should collaborate to produce exceptional films. India has the potential to create remarkable cinema. This marks a breakthrough for us as we strive to present something substantial from our state. Although we are a small industry in Kerala, we have achieved numerous milestones, including the first cinemascope, co-productions, 3D films, and now, the first IMAX production in Malayalam," he stated.

The film is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, with Sree Gokulam Movies distributing it.

Where to watch Lucifer on OTT before the L2: Empuraan release?

Lucifer, which premiered in 2019, can be streamed on Prime Video. Additionally, a Hindi dubbed version is accessible through the OTTplay Premium app. Penned by Murali Gopi, the film explores the events following the demise of the supreme leader of the ruling party in Kerala. As a power vacuum emerges, this action thriller features performances by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, among others.
