Actor Kunickaa Sadanand, who gained fame from films like Beta, Gumraah, and Khiladi, recently opened up about her past relationship with singer Kumar Sanu, revealing it happened while he was still married. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa shared that Kumar was dealing with depression because of his difficult marriage, which really took a toll on him.

Kunickaa mentioned that she first crossed paths with Kumar Sanu at a friend's place, where he was there for a recording session. Being a fan, she decided to chat with him, and they ended up discussing diet and fitness for more than an hour. She remembered offering him a sweetener and reminding him to look after his health. In response, Kumar Sanu thanked her and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

Their next encounter took place during a film shoot in Ooty, where Kumar Sanu was on vacation with his sister and nephew. Kunickaa shared that his marriage was quite troubled, claiming that his wife would often mistreat him.

She shared a really touching story, saying, “We were having dinner when he got pretty drunk. He started crying and even talked about jumping out of the hotel window. He was in a really dark place. His sister, nephew, and I had to physically hold him back. It hit me hard because I could see how much he was hurting. He didn’t want to ruin his marriage or leave his kids. Once we calmed him down, I reminded him of his duties to his children and his job. I think that moment really brought us closer together. After that, he moved into a flat close to mine. We started sharing meals, and I helped him shed some pounds. That’s how our relationship kicked off.”

Kunickaa mentioned that she viewed Kumar Sanu as if he were her husband

Kunickaa shared that she and Kumar Sanu were in a relationship for six years but chose to keep it under wraps to respect his family and kids. She mentioned, “We only went public when we performed together. I helped him pick out his outfits and took care of the performance details. I felt like his wife, and he was like my husband. It was a bond reminiscent of Shakuntala and Dushyant. But eventually, I found out things about him that really hurt me.”

She also alleged that Kumar Sanu’s wife, Rita Bhattacharya, discovered the affair and reacted by smashing her car with a hockey stick.

For those who don’t know, Kumar Sanu married Rita Bhattacharya in 1980, and they divorced in 1994. They have three kids: Jiko, Jassi, and Jaan Kumar Sanu. In 2001, he tied the knot with Saloni Bhattacharya, and they have two children together, Shannon K and Annabelle Kumar Sanu.
