Kunchacko Boban recently shared a post on social media declaring himself "Unstoppable," celebrating the success of his first film of 2025, Officer On Duty. This marks merely the beginning of an exciting year ahead, as he is set to collaborate with prominent figures in Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal and Mammootty, in an upcoming project directed by Mahesh Narayanan, which has yet to be titled.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Kunchacko discussed the highly anticipated, high-budget film, which will also feature Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in its cast. He had the opportunity to work alongside these esteemed actors when filming commenced in Sri Lanka last year.

Reflecting on his experience working with his idols in Mahesh Narayanan's film, Kunchacko stated, “During the first schedule, I spent three days shooting in Sri Lanka. I will rejoin the team after completing my commitments for Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil. From May to June, I will have the privilege of working with the two legends I have long admired. I am genuinely excited to be part of this project.”

Harikrishnans when he was just beginning his career in 1998. Notably, he played the senior role in his recent success, Officer On Duty, which featured younger actors such as Vishak Nair, Ramzan Muhammed, Leya Mammen, Aishwarya Raj, Vishnu G Warrier, and Amit Eapen as the antagonists.

When asked if he felt like a mentor to these newcomers, he responded, “Cinema is fundamentally a collaborative effort. Success is not attributed to a single individual. A film thrives when every participant fulfills their role effectively, and they all deserve recognition. Whether it’s Vishak, Ramzan, or the new talents, each played a vital role in the film’s success. If the audience connected with my character, CI Harishankar, it is largely due to the formidable presence of the villains in the film.”

Kunchacko Boban expresses his excitement regarding the success of Officer On Duty. The actor is delighted by the film's reception, noting that it has emerged as the second major hit in Malayalam cinema this year, following Rekhachithram. “The most gratifying aspect for me is that the audience has not voiced any significant negative feedback after viewing the film. Typically, viewers focus on the performances of the actors, but in this instance, they also commended the technical elements, which holds great significance for us,” he remarks.

The promotional activities for the film have also provided Kunchacko with unforgettable experiences, such as inviting a fan from the audience who had taken a photograph with him nearly 28 years ago after his debut in Aniyathipraavu to join him for a selfie. Additionally, he was surprised when Ramzan disclosed that he had portrayed Kunchacko's younger self in films like Dr Biju and Three Kings.

“You cannot fabricate such moments. They occur spontaneously, and we may not have even considered them. That is the enchantment of cinema,” Kunchacko stated. “I firmly believe that positive outcomes are destined for those who act with kindness. My life has not unfolded according to my plans; rather, it has exceeded my expectations in remarkable ways.”
