Kunal remembered getting the news about the incident with a call at 6 am, and how strange it felt to share it with his wife, actress Soha Ali Khan, while they were preparing their daughter Innaya Naumi Kemmu for school.

He mentioned, "Honestly, my first thought was, is he (Saif Ali Khan) alright? Once we found out he was safe and out of harm's way, all the other talk just didn’t matter anymore because that was the only thing that counted."
