Kritika Kamra appears to be enjoying the world of crime in her professional life. The actor plays a good-hearted police officer in Gyaarah Gyaarah, an upcoming science fiction thriller series by Umesh Bisht, following her turn as a gangster in Bambai Meri Jaan (2023).

Speaking about the same topic, Kritika revealed to Mid Day that she seized the opportunity, acknowledging it as a pivotal moment in her career. The series has its tender spots, and there is a human story behind the police procedures. The actor added that only an exceptional individual like Umesh could have handled these characters' delicate emotional lives with such grace.

Among the few actors who have managed the relatively painless shift to digital media, there is Kritika, who first appeared on television in 2007. She concurs that OTT has levelled the playing field in terms of casting, giving performers a platform to demonstrate their diverse skill sets.

Creators are free to cast anybody they want on the OTT platform because there's no need to worry about box office opening collections. Artists from the TV industry and those just starting out may both find a home here because admission is strictly via audition. 

Bollywood's different approach

While she acknowledges that OTT has provided opportunities for talented TV artists, she also notes that Bollywood has never been as welcoming to their work. Kamra went on to say that the two mediums operate in distinct ways. Giving up television is a necessary evil if one wants to break into the major film industry. Audiences and directors, not actors, have established this hierarchy. Actors who have never appeared on television are considered commercially viable. The performer must take responsibility for altering that perception.

Kritika stated that individuals who have successfully transitioned from small to large screens likely achieved this with a single significant project, or they weren't initially visible to the public. However, making the leap from television to film requires time, especially for someone with years of experience in the industry.
