Actor Nitanshi Goel, known for her role in Laapataa Ladies, has shared her experience regarding a compliment she received from Kriti Sanon concerning the film. Nitanshi highlighted a particular scene in Laapataa Ladies that she "completely improvised," which earned her accolades from the film's production team.
Nitanshi spoke about a scene that made the team cry
In discussing a particular moment in Laapataa Ladies, Nitanshi remarked, "The sequence in which Phool experiences an emotional breakdown in the public restroom at the railway station was entirely improvised. I expressed to Kiran (Rao) ma'am that Phool's character is vulnerable and that I felt she should shed tears. She encouraged me to trust my instincts, which I did. Following the filming of that scene, there was an outpouring of emotion, with everyone in tears and applauding."
Kriti Sanon complimented her on the film
Nitanshi also shared her most significant compliment regarding Laapataa Ladies. "I had the opportunity to meet Kriti Sanon at an awards ceremony recently. I distinctly recall stealing glances at her like an enthusiastic admirer, mentally rehearsing how to greet her and approach her. In the midst of this, she approached me and her words completely captivated me. She said, 'Nitanshi, I see a young Kriti in you. I recognize the younger version of myself in you. I hope to see you in remarkable films. I look forward to seeing you excel on screen.' I was truly touched by her words. It was an incredibly meaningful moment for me," Nitanshi expressed.
About Laapataa Ladies
Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, is a subtly subversive feminist narrative set in rural India during the early 2000s. The story revolves around two brides who are inadvertently exchanged on their wedding day while travelling by train. The film features Nitanshi and Pratibha Ranta in the roles of Phool and Jaya, respectively, with Sparsh Shrivastav portraying the unfortunate groom searching for his bride. The cast also includes Chhaya Kadam, Ravi Kishan, and Geeta Agrawal Sharma.
In September of this year, the Film Federation of India (FFI) selected Laapataa Ladies as India's official entry. However, it did not succeed in making the shortlist of 15 films competing for a place in the final five.
