Kriti Sanon on being an outsider and 10 years in showbiz: 'Today, there's a little less to prove'

Kriti Sanon made her Bollywood debut in 2014 with Heropanti. The actress paved her way to success with a decade-long journey in movies. Despite the highs and lows, Kriti made a mark for herself in the industry. On Nikhil Kamath's podcast, Kriti reflected on her 10 years of journey in the showbiz. The actress also shed light on being an outsider. Kriti admitted that she had moments of frustration earlier, but it isn't impacted by it now.

Kriti Sanon was asked if not coming from a legacy (of actors) still plays a big part in her career. To which, the actress said, "Sometimes... (but) I don't have someone who will make a call. I have had more of those moments, and a little bit of frustration earlier. But it has taken me a decade to reach where I am today. Today, there's a little less to prove... like 'I need to prove myself'."

Backing her statement with a solid reason, Sanon added, "Because there is a sense of validation that's happened over the 10 years; whether it is with the box office or as an actor. I think I have always been someone who was hungry to be known as a good actor, not just have the stardom."

The Mimi actress feels certain performances and awards give her a sense of validation that "Okay, I don't need to prove myself now". At the same time, it also makes Kriti push herself as an actor and do what excites her.

Kriti Sanon's upcoming projects

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kriti has a few exciting projects lined up. The actress will be seen in Do Patti with Kajol. It is an upcoming thriller web series which will premiere on Netflix. Apart from this project, Sanon has Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya's sequel lined up.

The actress was seen in TBMAUJ with Shahid Kapoor earlier this year. Following its success, Kriti's film Crew with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu was released. It also did well at the box office.
